Men’s Basketball- The men’s basketball team wrapped up last week with a 1-1 record. They currently stand at 8-15 overall and 7-11 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). On 2/7 the Chargers defeated the visiting Highlanders for the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 74-71. Junior Prince Jackson led the team with a game leading 29 points. Senior Tahiem Stewart added 19 points and five rebounds in the win. Chaz Holloway scored six points, while freshman guard Damien Davis contributed five assists, respectively. On 2/9 the Chargers suffered a tough double-overtime loss to Bloomfield College, 119-121. Jackson led five Chargers in double-figures with 35 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Stewart and freshman Richard Fegins scored 15 points each with Fegins going 3-5 from three point land. Sophomore Shelton Gibbs netted 14 points and four assists, while Holloway added 13 points in the loss. Freshman Zerimar Ramirez came off the bench to grab a team leading 10 rebounds. This week DC will host Holy Family University on 2/16 at 8pm and will travel to Felician College on 2/18 at 3pm.
Women’s
Basketball-
The Lady Chargers posted a 0-2 record this week, dropping their
overall record to 14-10 and 12-7 in the CACC. On 2/7 the Lady
Chargers dropped a game to NJIT, 72-77.
Senior Jill Younghans led three Lady Chargers in
double-figures with 16 points. Sophomore Dana
Rotio scored 14 points, three assists and three steals,
while Ashley Rossi had 13 points and seven
rebounds in the loss. Junior Beth DePalo had
six points, six rebounds and two blocks. Guard Jackie
Tracey contributed eight points and six assists, while
freshman Shalissa Burgess had seven points and two
steals. On 2/9, DC faced a tough Bloomfield College team and
lost 46-80. Rossi led the team with 10
points and seven rebounds. Rotio scored
eight points, while freshman Althea Chambers
played well off the bench with seven points and seven
rebounds. Tracey had five points, seven
rebounds, and four assists in the loss. This week the Lady
Chargers will travel to Georgian Court University on 2/14 for a 7pm
game and will return home on 2/16 to host Holy Family University at
6pm. They will wrap up the week with a road game at Felician
College at 1pm.
