Men’s Basketball- The men’s basketball team had a great week, going 2-0. Dominican now stands at 10-15 overall and 9-11 in the CACC. On 2/16, the Chargers revenged a tough overtime loss earlier in the year, by defeating the Tigers from Holy Family University 74-67. Prince Jackson led all scorers with 19 points. Senior Tahiem Stewart posted the game’s only double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senior James Gray added 10 points in the win. Dominican then won a tough road game at Felician College on 2/18, 80-74. Jackson led all scorers again with 29 points. Stewart chipped in 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Freshman Will Carty added eight points in the win. This week the team will host Goldey-Beacom College on 2/21 at 8pm and Wilmington College on 2/25 at 3pm. Both games will be at the Hennessy Center. On 2/25, Dominican College will recognize seniors Paul Tuomey, James Gray, Juan Martinez, Tahiem Stewart and Charles Matthews as they will play in their final home game for DC.
Women’s
Basketball-
The Lady Chargers posted a 2-1 record this week, dropping their
overall record to 16-11 and 14-8 in the CACC. On 2/14,
Dominican won a road game at Georgian Court University,
59-50. Senior Ashley Rossi led all scorers
with a season high 21 points and six rebounds. Sophomore
Dana Rotio added 15 points, seven rebounds and
three steals in the win. Jackie Tracey
scored nine points and a game leading eight assists. On 2/16,
the team suffered a loss to regionally ranked Holy Family
University, 48-78. Rossi led the team with
16 points. Jill Younghans and Rossi both scored their
1,000th career point in the
game. The team rebounded on 2/18 with a road
win against Felician College, 70-60. Freshman
Shalissa Burgess came off the bench to led all
scorers with 16 points and nine rebounds. Junior Beth
Depalo added 10 points, while freshman Althea
Chambers netted eight points and five rebounds in the
win. This week the Lady Chargers will host Goldey-Beacom
College on 2/21 at 6pm and Wilmington College on 2/25 at 1pm.
Both games will be at the Hennessy Center. On 2/25, Dominican
College will recognize seniors Danielle Armiento, Danielle
Dugan, Ashley Rossi and Jill Younghans as
they will play in their final home game for the Lady Chargers.
