Dominican Chargers Turn Back Molloy College Lions, 13-3

Rockville Centre, NY (3/21/06)  The Dominican College baseball team defeated the Molloy College LIons, 13-3 in a non-conference game held in Rockville Centre, NY this afternoon.

The Chargers took a commanding 10-1, after scoring five runs a piece in the first and second innings.  Keith Gebert (Brooklyn, NY) started the scoring with an RBI single to right field, scoring Mike Zani (Goshen, NY) who led off the game with a walk.  Jose Escalera (Bronx, NY) followed with an RBI single to center field, scoring Eliezer Nunez (Brooklyn, NY) who had followed Zani with a single.  Peter Gilardo (Cornwall, NY) had an RBI single to right field and designated hitter Chad Duesler (Northville, NY) had a RBI sacrifice fly to center field to end the top of the first inning up 5-0.

Gilardo went 3-5 in the game with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.  Duesler went 3-4 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored in the win.  Shortstop Jose Made (Binghamton, NY) had three hits in five at bats with an RBI and a run scored, while Gebert went 2-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Pitcher Daniel Bucci (Dobbs Ferry, NY) picked up his second win of the season to improve to 2-1 on the year.

With the win the Chargers improve to 9-8 on the year, while Molloy falls to 7-10.  Dominican opens up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play tomorrow afternoon when they host Post University at 3pm at Veteran's Memorial Park.
