South Beach, FL (3/4/07) The Dominican College baseball team dropped a double-header to Southern Connecticut State University in Florida this afternoon. DC lost a 7-6 decision in game one and lost 17-11 in game two.
In game one, SCSU scored runs in the fourth and fifth to take a 2-0 lead. DC tied the game in the seventh and went ahead 6-2 in the top of the eighth, but SCSU rallied for a five run inning for the 7-6 victory.
Freshman Tommy Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) and Joe DiMicelli (Staten Island, NY) each had two hits in the loss, while Jose Made (Binghamton, NY) collected three RBIs.
Junior Todd Spindler (Chesapeake, VA) took the loss for the Chargers.
In game two, SCSU jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second inning and never looked back in the 17-11 victory.
Sean Brown (Massapeaqua, NY) went 3-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while freshman Neil Fedele (Scranton, PA) went 3-5 with three RBIs.
Matt Dilgen (Staten Island, NY) took the loss.
The Chargers are now 0-2 on the season.
