Philadelphia, PA (4/18/08) The Dominican College baseball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to host Philadelphia University, 14-13 this afternoon.

The Rams took an early 6-0 lead in the first on four hits and taking advantage of 4 DC erros, but the Chargers answered back with four runs in the second as Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) got a one out single, followed by an RBI double by Jonathan Ryan (Troy, NY).  After Willie Mann (Paterson, NY) was hit to put two on, Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) singled to plate Ryan.  Freshman Jason Berros (Brooklyn, NY) followed with a double to score two and cut the Ram lead to 6-4.

Philadelphia scored a run in the second and third to extend their lead to 8-4, but the Chargers answered with three runs in the fifth on two hits to cut the lead to 8-7.  An RBI single by Tommy Maloney (Masspaequa Park, NY) with two on brought in Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) and a double by Lopez scored two runs.

Philadelphia put two runs on the board in the seventh, but the Chargers scored four runs in the top of the eighth to take a 11-10 lead.  Robinson had a bases clearing double and advanced to third on a Ram fielding error and senior Sean Brown (Masspaequa, NY) hit a sacrifice fly to bring him in.

The Rams answered with a four run bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs on four hits to regain the lead at 14-11.  In the top of the ninth, DC scored two runs on an RBI double by Lopez and a RBI single by Mann, but the Rams hung on for the 14-13 victory.

Corey Murphy (Melville, NY) took the loss for the Chargers (1-3) in two innings of work, allowing four runs on four hits.
