2007-2008 Dominican College Men's Golf Season Summary

The Dominican College men's golf team once again reached new heights this season with nine top five finishes and won the Dominican College Charger Challenge.  The team was also ranked in the Northeast Region and just missed qualifying for the Northeast Regional Championship.

The Chargers finished fourth at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships for the second consecutive top five finish.  Senior Brian Mackey, junior AJ Lee and freshman Thomas Lalonde were all named to the All-CACC Golf Team after finishing in the top ten individually at the Championships.

Mackey qualified as an individual for the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Northeast Regional Championship for the fourth consecutive year.  In thrilling fashion he tied for first at the Regional with an amazing 75-foot put to force a playoff hole and was able to pull out the win for the school's first Northeast Regional Individual Championship.  He then went on the Division II Men's Golf National Championships that were held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, TX.  He finished the four day event in a tie for 32nd place out of 104 golfers from around the country.  He was also named to the Division II PING All-Region Northeast Team for the third straight year, earned honorable mention honors for the PING All-American Team and the All-CACC honor was his fourth appearance in four years.

First year Head Coach, Wayne Mackey, was named the CACC Coach of the Year after his team's stellar season.

With the loss of Brian Mackey, the team will look to a strong incoming class of recruits to round out the top five with Lee to guide the way.  The Chargers look to win the CACC Title next season and return to the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships next season.
