Jackson Named To All-Met Team
White Plains, NY (4/4/07) Bradd Wierzbicki of Queens College was named the 2006-07 All-Met Division II mens college basketball player of the year Wednesday by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Bradd Wierzbicki of Queens College was named the 2006-07 All-Met Division II men’s college basketball player of the year Wednesday by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Assn.
Sal Lagano of NYIT was selected coach of the year.
Joining Wierzbicki on the All-Met first team: Andre Dabney,
Bloomfield, the 2006 player of the year; Ryan Williams, Pace;
Prince Jackson, Dominican; Jean Georges, Caldwell;
Bryant Lassiter, NYIT; Kimani Blaize, Adelphi..
Named to the second team: Michael Pierrot, Felician; Sheanan Martinez, Nyack; Desmond Quincy-Jones, Pace; Mike Mosby, Adelphi; Miguel Pierre-Fanfan, NYIT.
A senior guard from Maspeth, N.Y., and the East Coast Conference player of the year as well, Wierzbicki was ninth in the nation in scoring at 23.4 ppg. He finished his career as the fourth-leading scorer at Queens (1,686 points).
In his 10th season, Lagano guided the Bears to a 20-9 record, the ECC regular season title (15-5) and the NCAA tournament for a second time, advancing to the second round. Previously named MBWA coach of the year in 2004, he also was named ECC coach of the year this season.
The All-Met awards will be presented Tuesday evening, April 10, at Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, N.J.
Jackson, who
hails from Schenectady, NY, was an All-CACC First Team Selection
for the second consecutive season this year. He led
the Chargers in scoring, averaging, 17.6 ppg (493 points for the
year) and was second on the team in rebounding with 164 (5.9 per
game). He was ranked sixth in the CACC in
scoring, twelfth in free throw percentage, third in three point
field goal percentage and twelfth in three point field goals
made. He finished fourth on the team in assists
with 31, while leading the Chargers in minutes
played. He netted his 1,000th career
point against Post University on 2/27 in only two years at
DC. In 28 games, he scored in double figures 26
times, and had eight games where he scored over twenty
points.
Dominican College finished with a 13-15 overall record and a CACC record of 10-10. The team fell to the top seeded Rams of Philadelphia University in the CACC Quarter-Finals.
