CHARGERS BASKETBALL TURNS BACK FELICIAN COLLEGE
Blauvelt, NY (1/23/08) The Dominican Chargers men's basketball team turned back the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician College, 93-81 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's hoops action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Dominican held a 35-25 point lead at the break behind a 12 points
off the bench from junior Jonathan Guzman (Rutherford,
NJ) who shot 4-6 from beyond the three point arc. In
the second half, the Chargers led by as many as 20 points, 66-46
with just under twelve minutes remaining in the game.
The Chargers shot 58.5% for the game to Felician's 41.0% but the Golden Falcons out rebounded DC, 39-31.
Jason Romer (New York, NY) and Rod Barrow (Harlem, NY) led Felician with 16 points a piece and a combined 16 rebounds. Guards Derrell Thomas (Harlem, NY) and Ryan Moseley (Teaneck, NJ) each added 13 points in the loss.
Guzman led Dominican with 17 points. Junior guard Will Carty (Bronx, NY) netted 14 points, while senior Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) contributed 13 points and five rebounds in the win. Junior Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) chipped in 11 points, while freshman Tim Matchett (Pitman, NJ) added 10 points and six rebounds.
With the win, Dominican improves to 9-8 overall and 4-3 in the CACC, while Felician falls to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in the CACC.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host the
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Coach Baxter Court in
CACC men's basketball action at the Hennessy Center. Game
time is 3pm for the Bobby Mulligan Game.
