GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE SURVIVES LATE RALLY TO TURN BACK DOMINICAN CHARGERS 

Wilmington, DE (2/23/08) The Goldey-Beacom College Lightning survived a late rally by the visiting Dominican College Chargers to post a 79-70 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's action at the John West Jones Center this afternoon.

Trailing 60-49 with 9:54 left in regulation, the Chargers went on a 10-4 run to cut the lead to 64-59 with just over six minutes to go.  Three minutes later, DC once again trailed by five  but the Lightning put together a 10-5 run to capture the 79-70 victory.

GBC out shot DC, 50.8% (31-61) to 48.3% (28-58).  The Lightning also out rebounded the Chargers, 38-30.  Nineteen Dominican turnovers led to 30 GBC points.

Dominican had two players in double figures as Will Carty (Bronx, NY) netted 17 points.  Junior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) added 16 points and a game leading seven rebounds and five assists in the loss.  Jonathan Guzman (Rutherford, NJ) had eight points and four steals off the bench.

Four of the five starters for GBC finished in double figures as  Anthony Parham led the way with 17 points and six rebounds.  Maurice Maxwell, Derek Savage and Adrian Miles each scored 15 points with Savage adding seven rebounds and Miles having a game leading five assists.

With the win, GBC improves to 16-10 overall and 8-7 in the CACC, while DC falls to 12-14 overall and 7-8 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when the host Post University in the final regular season game in the CACC.  Game time is 8pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center for Senior Night.
