McMANUS'S FREE THROW ENSURES CHARGERS VICTORY OVER POST UNIVERSITY EAGLES

seconds left in regulation to ensure a 64-63 victory for host
Dominican College over the Eagles of Post University on Senior
Night at the Hennessy Center in the finale of the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season.
In the first half, Post had a 13-8 lead with 11:45 remaining, when the Chargers put together an 8-2 run to take a 16-15 lead. The Eagles regained a 27-22 lead with 0:29 seconds left, but DC finished out the half with a4-0 run to cut the lead to 27-26.
In the second half, the Eagles held an early seven point lead, when the Chargers went on a 13-3 run to take a 41-38 with just under 12 minutes left in the game. The Eagles came back to knot the game 43-43, but the Chargers went ahead for good with 10:15 left in the game and led by as many as nine points.
Dominican led 61-55 with 1:34 left in the game when Garvin McAlister (Norwich, CT) connected on a three point shot to cut the DC lead to three. Peter Lawal's (Uniondale, NY) dunk brought the Eagles to within one point, 61-60 with 0:47 seconds left. Guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) hit a huge jumper in the paint over three Eagle defenders to bring and McManus's free throw saw the Chargers with a 64-60 lead with 0:07 on the clock. Eagle Arthur Roberston (Far Rockaway, NY) hit a three pointer, but the Chargers hung on for the 64-63 victory.
Robertson and Omar Robinson (Brooklyn, NY) led the Eagles with 16 points each. Lawal finished with 14 points and AJ Reitter (Baltimore, MD) had a game leading 11 rebounds in the loss.
Brock led the Chargers with 16 points and three steals, while Will Carty (Bronx, NY) netted 14 points. McManus finished with 11 points and Kris Knez (Astoria, NY) added 10 points off the bench. Senior Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) finished with nine points and two steals.

Gibbs with a ceremony and presentation of his framed
jersey.
With the win, Dominican improves 13-14 overall and 8-8 in the CACC, while Post falls to 14-13 overall and 10-6 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the CACC Tournament. The #3 Chargers will take on #2 Caldwell College at 2pm in Caldwell, NJ.
