Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/10/16)  The Bloomfield College Bears topped the Dominican College Chargers, 70-57, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.  Today was the first Annual Mike Coffey Game in honor of the men's assistant basketball coach who passed away suddenly last April.

Dominican opened the game with a three-point bucket from junior Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.), but the Bears countered with a 12-2 run to take a 12-5 lead and would lead by as many as eight points in the first stanza en route to a 34-28 halftime advantage.

The Chargers trailed by as many as 14 points early in the second frame, but cut it to three points (55-52) as Irvin hit two free throws with 8:29 to play.  Irvin would cut it to two (55-53) 27 seconds later with a free throw.  That would be as close as they would get as the Bears went on to the win.

Sophomore forward Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) came off the bench to net a team best 22 points (8-14 from the floor).

Irvin finished with the game's only doubl-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Dominican (7-4, 3-2 CACC) will travel to Nyack College in a CACC men's game next Saturday.
