New Haven, Conn. (10/3/18) Bloomfield College and Jefferson were tabbed first in their respective divisions of the 2018-19 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Wednesday by Commissioner Dan Mara. Bloomfield was tops in the North with 92 points and eight first-place votes, while Jefferson was on top of the South with 88 points and 4 first-place nods. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 14 head coaches in the sport.
Bloomfield enters the 2018-19 campaign fresh off an appearance in the NCAA Division II East Region Final to conclude last season. The Bears, under the guidance of Head Coach Gerald Holmes, return several letterwinners from last year, as they went 24-8 overall (17-2 CACC) and claimed the CACC North Division Regular Season Championship.
Jefferson won the 2017-18 CACC Championship last season and will return several letterwinners from their championship squad. Head Coach Herb Magee also guided the Rams to a spot in the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament last season.
Rounding out the top three in the North Division were Dominican College (2nd place, 90, 6 1st votes) and Caldwell University (3rd, 67). Dominican reached the CACC Championship Final for the second year in a row last season, while the Cougars reached the quarterfinals of the CACC Championship.
Goldey-Beacom College (2nd, 85, 10 1st votes) and Wilmington University (3rd, 63) rounded out the top three of the South Division. G-B claimed the CACC South Division Regular Season Championship last year and advanced to the CACC semifinals, while WilmU qualified for the post-season tournament.
