Blauvelt, NY (3/2/08) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team dropped their opening game of the 2008 season, 19-7, to the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm College this afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, NY.

Blauvelt, NY (3/2/08) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team dropped their opening game of the 2008 season, 19-7, to the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm College this afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, NY.
The Hawks opened up the game with a commanding 5-0 lead after the fourth quarter and led 9-1 at the intermission. DC netted three goals a piece in the final two quarters, but Saint Anselm added four goals in the third and six in the fourth for the final 19-7 victory.
Junior attacker Chris Murphy (Winchester, MA) led the Hawks with four goals and one assist. Fellow junior Matt Surette (Wakefield, MA) added three goals. Kevin DeBenedetto (Reading, MA) and Steve Trocki (Braintree, MA) each scored two goals, while six other Hawk players had a goal in the win.
Juniors Owen Smith III (Cornwall, NY) and Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY), along with sophomore Alex Jones (St. Albert, Canada) led the Chargers with two goals a piece. Frank Vermeylen (Elmwood, NJ) had the other Charger goal. Freshman Jesse Peterson (Saskatchewan, Canada) led the team with two assists.
With the win, Saint Anselm improves to 2-1 overall, while Dominican falls to 0-1.
The Chargers are back in action on next Saturday when they travel to Franklin Pierce University. Game time is 4pm in Rindge, New Hampshire.
