CHARGERS LACROSSE DEFEATS ASSUMPTION COLLEGE ON SENIOR DAY

Orangeburg, NY (4/21/08)  The Dominican College men's lacrosse team defeated Assumption College, 11-5 on Senior Day this afternoon in a non-conference match up at the DC Lacrosse Field.

The Chargers opened up the scoring in the first as Dave Marrese (Winnipeg, MB) netted a goal off the pass by Alex Jones (St. Albert, Canada).  The Greyhounds tied the game with a goal a minute and fifteen seconds later by Mike Molk (Danvers, MA) off the pass by Brandon MacNeil (Surrey, BC).  The Chargers ended the first quarter with a 3-0 run with goals scored by Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY), Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Owen Smith III (Cornwall, NY).

Assumption got a goal back early in the second quarter as Kevin Jurgens (Needham, MA) found the net off a pass from Kevin Klaskin (Needham, MA) to cut the DC lead to 4-2.  Dominican then went on a 5-0 run, spanning from late in the second quarter to 12:07 left in the third to take a commanding 9-2 lead.

The Greyhounds stopped the DC run and scored two consecutive goals to make the score 9-4, but the Chargers responded with a goal in third quarter for a 10-4 lead.  Each team netted a goal in the fourth for the final 11-5 DC victory.

Jurgens led the Greyhounds with two goals, while MacNeil and Molk each had two assists in the loss.

Junior attacker Jeremy Arcaro (New Windsor, NY) led the game with three goals.  Smith, Jones and Marrese each netted two goals in the win, while Smith had a game leading three assists.  Peterson and Montalbano had the other DC goals, while Peterson and James Murphy (Pearl River, NY) each had an assist.

Greyhound goalie Chris Bird (North Andover, MA) had 5 saves, while DC goalie Joe Assante (Hicksville, NY) had 16 saves in the win.
