CHARGERS LACROSSE LOSES TO ADELPHI UNIVERSITY
Hempstead, NY (4/30/08) The Dominican
College men's lacrosse team lost an East Coast Conference (ECC)
game to host Adelphi University Panthers this evening. With
the win the Panthers improve to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the ECC,
while the Chargers fall to 5-9 overall and 0-5 in the ECC.
The Panthers went on a 3-0 run to start the game when the Chargers struck for a goal by Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) off the pass from Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). AU then went on a 7-0 run to take a commanding 10-1 lead late in the second quarter. With 1:30 left before the intermission, attacker Pat O'Shea (Dix Hills, NY) scored an unassisted goal to make the score 10-2 at the break.
The Panthers continued on the offensive with a 5-0 run to start the third when Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) put one past the Panther goalie. Adelphi then went on a 6-0 run when the Chargers scored two straight goals in the fourth quarter, one by James Murphy (Pearl River, NY) and one by Andrew Rendine (River Edge, NJ) off the assist from senior Kyle Miller (Copiague, NY). AU scored the game's last goal for the final 22-5 victory.
Joe Assante (Hicksville, NY) had six saves in
27 minutes in the net. Tim Manzella (Riverhead,
NY) had one save in 17:38 and Brendan Bonacum
(Port Jefferson Station, NY) had two saves in fifteen
minutes.
