Springfield, Mass. (3/7/17)  The Dominican College men's lacrosse team downed host, American International College, 17-7 this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Abdow Field.  With the win, Dominican improves to 1-2 on the season.

The Charger offense got to work early as freshman attacker Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) scored a goal off the assist from Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.) just 56 seconds into the first quarter.  Junior Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) made the score 2-0 off the pass from D'Alessandro with 12:45 to go in the quarter.

Following a Yellowjacket goal, Heegan netted his second game goal off the assist from Wiberly to regain a two goal advantage and would complete the hat trick with his third goal with 6:04 left in the quarter.  D'Alessandro would end the quarter with his second goal to make the score 5-2.

DC would outscore their opponent, 7-1 in the second quarter to take a 12-3 lead into the locker room.  D'Alessandro netted three goals and three assists during the 6-0 run.

Freshman Kevin Meaney (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and Heegan scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter and AIC closed out the quarter with a goal to make the score 14-5.

Dominican used a 3-0 run in the final 15 minutes for the final 17-7 score.  Meaney began the run, while attacker Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.) netted his second game goal off the dish from Nicolas Jelovcic (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Bryan Pedisch (East Meadow, N.Y.) scored the last Dominican goal in the win.

D'Alessandro led the Chargers with a career high five goals and four assists.

Heegan finished with four goals and one assist, while Meaney finished with three goals.

Charger goalie Matthew Sandelier (Fort Lauderale, Fla.) made eight saves in the win.

The Chargers will take on East Coast Conference opponent, Molloy College, this coming Friday night.
