Clancey And Roth Named CACC Scholar-Athletes Of The Year
New Haven, CT Dominican College men's soccer player Kyle Clancy and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia volleyball player Emily Roth have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference(CACC) Scholar-Athletes of the Year in an announcement made today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.

New Haven, CT - Dominican College men's soccer player Kyle Clancy and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia volleyball player Emily Roth have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Scholar-Athletes of the Year in an announcement made today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.
Clancy and Roth are now eligible for the 2005-06 NCAA Division II Commissioners Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which will be handed out in August. The award honors one male and one female Division II student-athlete who excelled in both athletics and academics.
"Kyle and Emily enjoyed outstanding collegiate careers both academically and athletically," said Mara. "The CACC is proud to have these two quality individuals represent the conference for the national Scholar-Athlete Award."
Clancy, a senior from Walden, NY, was named the CACC Men's Soccer Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005. He established a school record by recording a career total of 171 points (75 goals, 21 assists). He was a three-time, First Team All-Region pick and was a First Team All-CACC selection four times. In the classroom, he has made the Dean's List every semester at Dominican and was named to the CACC All-Academic team in its first two years of existence. He graduated with a 3.75 grade-point average.
In 2005, Clancy led the CACC with 46 points and 20 goals, while tying for fifth with six assists. He ranked eighth in the nation in goals per-game (1.0) and ninth in the country with 2.3 points per-game. He netted eight game-winning goals and scored the only goal in a 1-0, CACC Tournament Championship game victory over Caldwell College to send the Chargers to the NCAA Tournament. He also scored four goals in a 5-0, semifinal victory over Nyack College and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Clancy earned a spot on the NSCAA/Adidas Division II All-New England Region First Team at the conclusion of the season.
Roth has achieved a 3.95 GPA and has been named to the Dean's List all eight semesters at USP. The senior from York, PA, has earned a 4.0 GPA in four semesters and her lowest career mark for a single semester was a 3.82. She earned a spot on the CACC All-Academic team in its first two years of existence and is a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
On the court, Roth is USP's all-time leader in kills (1,544), digs (1,880), matches played (112) and games played (399). She also stands second in attack percentage (.272) and kills per-game (3.87) and third in service aces (132). She was a 2003, 2004 and 2005 First Team All-CACC pick and was a Second Team selection in 2002.
Roth ranked 10th nationally and second in the CACC in 2005 with 5.16 kills per-game. She sported a .355 hitting percentage to rank second in the conference and was also eighth with 4.12 digs per-game. She performed well at the CACC Tournament and notched 18 kills and 10 digs in the CACC Championship Game after recording 17 kills, 13 digs and two blocks in a semifinal victory.
Roth was honored as a Second-Team Daktronics All-Northeast Region pick and was a 2005 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Northeast Region Honorable Mention selection. She was a 2005 ESPN the Magazine First-Team All-Academic All-American for volleyball and a First Team Academic All-District 2 Volleyball selection. Finally, she was selected as the 2005 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Volleyball Performer of the Year.
