Dominican Upends Bridgeport, 1-0
Clancy Brothers lead Chargers to Victory

RINDGE, N.H. (Sept. 2, 2005) Dominican College held on for a 1-0 victory over the University of Bridgeport in the first match of the 2005 Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic at Sodexho Field this afternoon.
Sophomore Ryan Clancy (Walden, N.Y./Pine Bush) netted the lone goal of the match for Dominican in the 27th minute. Clancy deposited a 16-yard shot off a pass from his brother Kyle Clancy (Walden, N.Y./Pine Bush).
The Chargers nearly doubled their advantage, but Bridgeport junior Alex Suarez (Miami, Fla./Christopher Columbus) headed the ball off the line to deny the insurance goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper, Robert Kelly (Kearny, N.J./Kearny), collected his second shutout of the season, making two saves during the contest for Dominican. Chris Clarke (???) collected five saves. The Chargers outshot the Purple Knights, 18-6.
Dominican (2-1) is back in action on Sunday when it faces host Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA/adidas Division II preseason coaches poll, at 2 p.m. Bridgeport (1-2) faces Barry University in Sundays first match at 11:30 a.m.
