PHILADELPHIA, Pa. Dominican (10-1, 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) took 3-1 second half lead before Holy Family (5-4, 0-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) scored with just eight minutes remaining to pull within one but it was not enough as the Chargers defeated the Tigers 3-2 Thursday afternoon.

Dominican, ranked 23rd in Division II by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, took an early 1-0 lead at 10:36 when Jhonny Arteaga scored on a rebound.

Holy Family quickly countered when on a free kick, Chris Weber (Jr./Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) scored on a header. Abdiel Sanchez (Sr./Philadelphia, PA/George Washington) got the assist on the game-tying goal at the 14:47 mark.

Dominican’s second goal came on a defensive miscue by the Tigers as Holy Family attempted to clear the ball, but hit it into their own net. That allowed the Chargers to take a 2-1 lead 30 minutes into the contest.

In the second half, Dominican opened the scoring at 53:50 when Kyle Clancy scored on a one-on-one play past Tiger goalkeeper Sean Cahill (So./Philadelphia, PA/Bishop McDevitt) for a 3-1 Dominican lead.

Holy Family scored its final goal at 82:04 when Jim Latronica (So./Levittown, PA/Conwell-Egan) scored off a Steve Kientzy (So./Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) corner kick. Holy Family attempted to score in the final eight minutes but only got one good look at the goal.

Cahill finished with four saves in 62 minutes of play. Chris Augustine (Sr./Willow Grove, PA/Archbishop Ryan) played the final 28 minutes in goal and made three saves. Charger goalkeeper Robert Kelly got the win, but did not have to make a save.
