Dominican Overpowers Nyack, 5-0
Rutherford, NJ (11/3/05) The top seeded Dominican Chargers (17-1) soccer team advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Final this evening with a 5-0 victory over the third seeded Nyack College Warriors (10-6-3) at Tryon Field in Rutherford, NJ.
The offensive explosion was led by the dynamic duo of Kyle and Ryan Clancy (Walden, NY). The 2005 CACC Player of the Year, Kyle got his first of four goals eleven seconds into the game off a great pass by senior Brent Gaylord (Phoenix, AZ). Clancy and Gaylord would meet up again four minutes later when Gaylord sent a ball across the field to an open Clancy, who rocketed a shot into the upper right-hand corner of the goal. Gaylord would finish the night with three assists.
Brother, Ryan, extended the Charger lead to 3-0 as he converted a penalty kick seven minutes into the second half. The Clancy brothers would team up in the 55th minute when Ryan crossed a ball to Kyle for the teams fourth goal of the day.
DCs final goal came off the foot of Kyle in the 61st minute of action off the dish by Gaylord. Dominicans defense stifled the Warriors, limiting them to five shots on goal behind the stellar play of All-CACC First team member Tom Rolston (New City, NY). Sophomore keeper and All-CACC first team member, Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ), posted his tenth shut out of the season.
