Dominican Dominates Goldey-Beacom College, 6-0

Blauvelt, NY (9/9/06) The Dominican College men’s soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and 2-2-1 overall with a 6-0 victory over Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon at the Dominican College Soccer Field.

Blauvelt, NY (9/9/06)            The Dominican College men's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and 2-2-1 overall with a 6-0 victory over Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon at the Dominican College Soccer Field.

DC attacked early as Pablo Pozo (Riobamba, Ecuador) put a shot past the GBC goalkeeper off the pass by freshman Dan Kelly (Massapequa, NY) in the 2nd minute of play for a 1-0 lead.  A minute later junior Jhonny Arteaga (Cali, Colombia) netted a goal of his own to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead.

Junior Ryan Clancy (Pine Bush, NY) added a goal off the dish by senior Colin Hodge (Ludlow, VT) to extend Dominican's lead to 3-0 just ten minutes into the game.

Freshman Colin Van Rye (Elmwood Park, NJ) scored his first collegiate goal at 16:43 off the pass by Arteaga to round out the scoring in the first half as DC extended their lead to 6-0.

Dominican added two more goals in the second half as Arteaga netted a goal off the assist by Clancy at 62:58 and freshman Dan Costello (River Vale, NJ) scored his first collegiate goal off the dish by senior Michael Purificati (Pine Bush, NY) at 67:47 for the final 6-0 score.

The Chargers out shot GBC 25-3, while Lightning goal keeper Garrett Shuler (Elkton, MD) had seven saves in the loss.  DC keeper Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ) had one save.

Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they host St. Anselm College at 3:30 pm.
