Dominican Softball Ranks 15th Nationally In GPA

Blauvelt, NY (11/10/06)The Dominican College softball team had the 15th highest team grade-point average among all NCAA Division II programs during the 2005-06 academic year, according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Chargers, coached by Rick Krasny, posted a team GPA of 3.380. Additionally, six players had a GPA of 3.50 or higher to earn NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Blauvelt, NY (11/10/06)  The Dominican College softball team had the 15th highest team grade-point average among all NCAA Division II programs during the 2005-06 academic year, according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Chargers, coached by Rick Krasny, posted a team GPA of 3.380. Additionally, 6 players had a GPA of 3.50 or higher to earn NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors.

The student-athletes who earned Scholar-Athlete honors in 2005-06 are seniors Danielle Gornie (Shrub Oak, NY), Katie Farrugia (Cornwall, NY), Kerry Furey (Pomona, NY), junior Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ), sophomores Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) and Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY) and freshman Corey Heulitt (Holland, PA). 

Last season the Lady Chargers went 37-19 and were the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Runners Up.
