Cape Coral, Fl (3/7/07) The Lady Charger softball team dropped a double header to Saginaw Valley State University this afternoon at the Gene Cusic Classic. SVSU took the first game 3-0 and won the night cap 6-5.

Cape Coral, Fl (3/7/07) The Lady Charger softball team dropped a double header to Saginaw Valley State University this afternoon at the Gene Cusic Classic. SVSU took the first game 3-0 and won the night cap 6-5.
In the first game, SVSU took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and added a run in the sixth for the 3-0 victory.
The Lady Chargers had only three hits in the game. Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY), Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) and Chrystina Tirado (Rincon, Puerto Rico) each had a hit in the loss.
Junior Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) suffered the loss, allowing eight hits over seven innings.
In the night cap, SVSU held a 3-1 lead after three innings and took a 6-1 lead in the fourth. DC fought back with a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to pull within one run.
Freshman Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) went 2-4 in the game, while Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) and Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) each had a triple. Stathes went 1-2 with two runs scored in the loss.
Senior Michelle Bark (West Milford, NJ) suffered the loss, going 3 1/3 innings and allowing six runs on eight hits.
Dominican is back in action on Friday when they take on the University of Bridgeport and St. Anselm College at the Gene Cusic Classic.
