2007 Dominican College Volleyball Season Summary
The Dominican College women’s volleyball team ended the 2007 season with an overall record of 5-16 and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record of 5-12. The Lady Chargers finished in fifth place in the CACC North Division and just missed a playoff berth in the conference tournament.
Junior Kinikia Collier led the team with 197 kills on the season, averaging 2.63 kpg. She finished second on the team with 256 digs, averaging 3.41 dpg. Teammate Theresa Hanneman finished second on the team with 186 kills, averaging 2.91 kpg to finish in tenth place in the CACC. She led the team with 25 aces (0.39 sapg).
Senior libero Antoinette Hackett had a team leading 321 digs on the season, averaging 4.34 per game to put her in eighth place in the CACC.
Setter Kaitlin Earl amassed 485 assists this year to put her in tenth place in the CACC, averaging 6.47 per game. Junior Ashley Simpson led the team with 42 blocks, averaging 0.58 bpg.
Freshman Catherine Giordano had a strong finish to the season to finish second on the team with 21 assists and third with 151 digs.
With the loss of two seniors, the Lady Chargers will return a strong contingent of upper classmen for the 2008 season. The expectations are high for the team to rebound from this season and make a run for the CACC Championship next year.
