Rotio Leads Lady Chargers Over St. Anselm College, 65-54
Blauvelt, NY (12/20/06) Junior Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) led all scorers with 19 points, four rebounds and six assists as the Dominican College Lady Chargers defeated the Hawks from St. Anselm College, 65-54 this afternoon in womens basketball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

College, 65-54 this afternoon in women's basketball action on Coach
Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Dominican jumped out to an 7-0 lead to open the game but the Hawks went on a 14-0 run to take a 14-7 lead on two good free throws by Jessica Morgan (W. Lebanon, NH) with 10:29 remaining in the half.
The Lady Chargers came back to tie the game with 8:37 left on a lay up by freshman Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) and regained the lead on a free throw by senior Jackie Tracey-Spitaleri (Bronx, NY) for the 15-14 advantage. DC lead by as many as six points late in the first half, but the Hawks battled back to cut the lead 24-22 at the half.
St. Anselm tied the game early in the second half on a jumper by Justine Lyons (Reading, MA), but Rotio answered back with a three point bucket to once again put the Lady Chargers ahead, 27-24 and cruised to the 65-54 victory.
Besides Rotio, three other Lady Chargers netted double figures as Kristen Tracey (Bronx, NY) and Tracey-Spitaleri each netted 13 points and combined for seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Laskowski finished with 11 points.
For the Hawks, Morgan finished with a team leading 17 points and eight rebounds, while Rachel Reilly (Londonderry, NH) scored nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
Both teams struggled on the court as the Hawks shot 38.6% (17-44) for the game, while the Lady Chargers shot 38.0% (19-50). DC had the edge from beyond the three point arc, shooting 43.8% to the Hawks 30.0%.
The Lady Chargers will travel to Southern Connecticut State University on Friday in a non-conference game scheduled for 5pm.
