WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHARGES PAST CHESTNUT HILL GRIFFINS 

Blauvelt, NY (1/5/08)  The Dominican College women's basketball team charged past host Chestnut Hill College Griffins, 78-50 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game held at the Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

Dominican made a 16-4 run half way through the first half to take a commanding 28-12 lead en route to a 36-18 lead at the break.  The Lady Chargers shot 55.2% (16-29) from the floor in the first half and finished the game shooting 51.7% (31-60) from the floor.

The Lady Chargers were led by sophomore forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) with 15 points and five steals.  Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) netted 13 points, had a team leading five rebounds and had three steals.  Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) scored eight points, while Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ), Shanice Scully (St. Albans, NY) and Jasmine Schinella (Wappinger Falls, NY) each had seven points in the win.

The Griffins were led by Jenna Beck with the game's only double-double as she had 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Tara Walsh scored nine points, while Lindsay Formica netted seven points and five rebounds in the loss.

With the win, DC improves to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the CACC while CHC falls to 2-8 on the season and 0-2 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Wilmington University in CACC women's hoops action.  Game time is 6pm in New Castle, Delaware.
