WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CLIP CONCORDIA CLIPPERS
Bronxville, NY (1/28/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team won a road game against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Concordia College, 73-62 this evening at the Meyer Athletic Center.
The first half was a close knit battle that was interrupted half-way through by a black out in the gymnasium which caused a ten minute intermission. Once the half resumed, the Lady Chargers held a four point advantage, 23-19, with 4:30 remaining and led 29-22 with just over a minute to play. Before the half ended, the Clippers managed to cut the deficit to 29-24.
Dominican opened up the second half with a 13-7 run to build up a 42-31 lead and never looked back as they led by as many as twenty points (70-50) with 3:38 left in regulation. The Clippers outscored the Lady Chargers 10-1 in the final minutes but Dominican went on to the 73-62 victory.
Senior guard Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) led all scorers with 28 points. Fellow senior Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) chipped in 17 points, grabbed a team leading seven rebounds and tallied a team leading six assists in the victory. Sophomore Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) came off the bench to contribute 10 points and four rebounds.
With the victory Dominican improves to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in the CACC.
The Lady Charger are back in action on Saturday when they travel to CACC opponent, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for a 1pm contest.
