2009-2010 Dominican College Women’s Basketball Season Summary
The Lady Chargers basketball team finished the 09-10 season with a 15-14 overall record and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record of 11-8.
The Lady Chargers finished second atop the CACC North Division Standings after overcoming a six-game losing streak in February and winning their last four games to claim the second seed in the CACC Tournament. . In the quarter-finals, DC squared off against the third-seeded Deacons of Bloomfield College and game away with the 81-68 victory. In the semi-finals, Dominican faced the overall number one seed, Holy Family University, and suffered a 75-42 loss to end their season.
Senior guard, Rachelle Sainten, led the Lady Chargers this season with 14.4 points per game, finished third on the team in assists (54) and fourth on the team with 4.5 rebounds per contest. She finished eighth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in scoring and ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.343). She was named to the All-CACC Third Team and to the All-Met Second Team this season.
Senior forward and two-year team captain, Adele Laskowski finished second on the team with 9.7 ppg and 5.0 rpg. She finishes her career with 1,523 points to place third in the Sue Heller 1,000 Point Club.
The Lady Chargers graduate two starters (Sainten and Lasowksi) this season and will see a change at the helm of the program as assistant coach Bill Diener will take over for the departing John Burke. The team will have a veteran core of returners and with a talented incoming class for the 2010-2011 season, the Lady Chargers should once again be a team to reckon with in the CACC.
