Sparkill, N.Y. (11/11/17) The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball squad upended the visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College, 64-52, this afternoon in the finale of the Spartans Tip-Off Classic, hosted by STAC in Aquinas Hall Gymnasium.

The first quarter saw the visitors trailing 10-6 with under three and a half minutes left, when Dominican (0-2) received a three-point basket by junior Alpreshia Parker (Pocono Summit, Pa.) and a layup from Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) to turn the tables and give the team an 11-10 edge with 2:32 remaining.  A 6-0 Spartan run regained the lead (16-11) and guard Brittany Stone (Paramus, N.J.) ended the quarter with two shots from the charity stripe to make the score 16-13.

St. Thomas Aquinas College (2-0) dominated the second frame, outscoring DC 19-7, to build up a 35-20 lead at the break.  Stone led the Lady Chargers in the first half with six points, while freshman Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) grabbed a first half high seven boards.  Building on a strong second quarter, the Spartans would led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter en route to the 64-52 victory.

The Lady Chargers went 10-13 (76.9%) from the foul line, 19-54 (35.2%) from the floor and 4-14 (28.6%) from the three-point arc for the contest.

Freshman Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) led Dominican with nine points.

Rivera finished with eight points, while Tomlinson contributed seven points and a team high seven caroms in reserve.

Stone and Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.H.) each scored six points.

Dominican will return to action next Saturday afternoon as they host the 5th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.  DC will kick off the tournament at 1pm when they take on the University of Bridgeport.
