2008 Dominican College Women's Lacrosse Season Summary
The Dominican College women's lacrosse program reached new heights in the 2008 season as they won their first two games in program history and finished the year with a 2-12 record. DC won their first game against Ramapo College of New Jersey, 12-4 and defeated Lancaster Bible College, 18-1 on Senior Day at the DC Lacrosse Field. Head Coach, Erin Horan, saw much improvement in the team this year and is pleased with the progress they have made over the last two years.
Freshman, Silje Karlsen, led the Lady Chargers this year with 29 goals to set a new program record in both goals and points (33) and led the team with 36 draw controls. Fellow freshman, Amanda Matos, finished the season second on the team in both goals (25) and points (29). Both players led Dominican with four assists a piece. Sarah Kiernan, The 2008 Dominican College Most Valuable Player Award Winner, had a fine rookie campaign with 12 goals.
Lindsey Grundfast, a sophomore goalie, once again started every game in the net for Dominican this year. She had 167 saves on the season to place her 11th in the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Statistics and was 6th in saves per game (12).
Junior Althea Chambers showed much improved since her rookie season last year, netting 20 goals this season and led the team for the second straight year with 29 ground balls.
The 2008 Lady Chargers Lacrosse team also set school records for
the most points in a season (125) and goals (101) which was vast
improvement from the 2007 season. As Coach
Horan brings in her second recruiting class for
the 2009 year, the future looks very promising for this young and
talented team next year.
