Hillburn, N.Y. (4/18/17) Senior attacker Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) netted her 100th career goal on a free position attempt with 25:08 remaining in regulation to help lead the Dominican College women's lacrosse team to a 20-10 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over the visiting Warriors of Nyack College in a game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
Fitzgerald was one of three Lady Chargers to finish the contest with four game goals.
Seniors Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored two goals a-piece, while Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) also each netted two goals in the win.
Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 11 saves between the pipes for the Lady Chargers.
Dominican came charging out of the gates with the games first five goals in about eight minutes to jump ahead 5-0. The Warriors broke the run with a 2-0 spurt, but DC countered with the next six scores to claim a 11-2 advantage with 13:28 left in the half. NC closed out the half with three out of the last five goals to cut the lead to 13-5 at the break.
The second half saw Dominican outscore the visitors, 7-5, including Fitzgerald's 100th career goal to lead them to the 20-10 win.
DC will conclude regular season play this coming Saturday when they host Georgian Court University at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
