New Haven, CT (9/10/07) Dominican College junior Marie LaMaida has been tabbed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 9. Rookie of the Week accolades went to Bloomfield College freshman Melissa Torzewski.

New Haven, CT (9/10/07) Dominican College junior Marie LaMaida has been tabbed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 9. Rookie of the Week accolades went to Bloomfield College freshman Melissa Torzewski.
LaMaida, a junior forward from New Hyde
Park, NY, netted four goals in a 2-1 week for the Chargers. She
scored three goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 win over
Wilmington in both team's CACC opener. She got off eight shots and
six shots-on-goal in the match.
Torzewski, a freshman forward from Glen Garden, NJ, recorded three goals in a 7-0 win over Concordia. She became the second Bloomfield player to notch a hat trick in a game this season.
Honorable Mention
Lindsey Petry, Felician (Jr., M/F, Newton, NJ) - Tallied three goals in her only action of the week against St. Thomas Aquinas.
Begum Malali, Wilmington (Sr., F, Galloway, NJ) - Scored three goals in two games, including two scores in a CACC game at Dominican.
Nicole Keiser, Nyack (Sr., F, Forked River, NJ) - Scored two goals and added one assist in a 1-1 week. Had one goal at Georgian Court.
CACC Women's Soccer Notes
Bloomfield - Bloomfield doubled its win total from last season by defeating Concordia by a score of 7-0. In the game, five of the Deacons' seven goals were scored by freshmen. Erika Len and Jerrica Lavooy scored their first career goals while fellow freshman Missy Torzewski scored her first career hat trick. All three of Torzewski's goals came in the first half of the game. Senior Michelle Giuca had two goals and two assists in the game despite playing just 49 minutes. Sophomore goalie Danielle Blumberg registered five saves for her second career shutout.
Felician - Five of Felician's six assists this season have been posted by freshmen. The last hat trick by a Felician female before Lindsey Petry's three goals on Saturday is believed to belong to Anna Bartsch in either 2001 or 2002.
Georgian Court - Despite falling to 1-3 in the opening contests of the season, the Lions have won their past two games. Georgian Court hosts Philadelphia University Monday afternoon on the Lions' new field.
Post - Post dropped a pair of matches last week, falling to Southern Connecticut State 3-0, and opening CACC play with a 3-0 loss on the road to Holy Family. Post travels to Caldwell on Tuesday for a CACC contest.
