Women's Soccer

WOMEN'S SOCCER TURNS BACK CALDWELL COLLEGE, 4-0 

Blauvelt, NY (10/15/07)     The Dominican College Lady Chargers soccer squad turned back Caldwell College, 4-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field.

Dominican got on the board at 12:48 when senior Jen Ditzig (Brick, NJ) converted a penalty kick for the 1-0 lead.  The Lady Chargers increased the lead to 2-0 at 31:47 when freshman Jane Dorsey (Ocean Grove, NJ) netted an unassisted goal. 

Early in the second half, junior Marie LaMaida (New Hyde Park, NY) scored her 11th goal of the season off the pass by Angela Correia (Elizabeth, NJ) putting Dominican up 3-0 at 49:28.  DC's final goal came from freshman Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) off the pass by Dorsey at 54:26 as Dominican cruised to the 4-0 victory.

The Lady Chargers dominated on the offensive end, outshooting the Cougars 17-5. 

Cougar keeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ) had six saves in the loss, while DC keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had six saves in relief of starter Rose Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY), who left early in the game with an injury.
 
With the win, DC improves to 6-8-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the CACC, while Caldwell falls to 4-11-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Georgian Court University in CACC action.  Game time is slated for  2pm.
