Women's Soccer

WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE ON SENIOR DAY 

Blauvelt, NY (10/27/07) The Dominican College women's soccer team defeated the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 6-0 this afternoon on a rainy senior day at the DC Soccer Field in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action.

Junior forward Marie LaMaida (New Hyde Park, NY) start of the Lady Charger scoring with a goal at 11:20 off the cross pass by freshman Jane Dorsey (Ocean Grove, NJ).  About four minutes later LaMaida followed with her second goal off the pass by freshman Margaret Porter (Neptune, NJ) to give DC a 2-0 lead.

Senior Nicole Tatulli (Brick, NJ) netted her second goal of the season at 18:49, while junior Angela Correia (Elizabeth, NJ) gave DC a commanding 4-0 lead with a goal at 20:10.

In the second half, Dominican continued to dominate on the offensive end as Correia her second goal of the game at 58:22 off the pass by LaMaida.  Sophomore Janet Mordeci (Pearl River, NY) added a goal at 70:10 for the final 6-0 DC victory.

Griffins goal keeper Kelly Evans (Harriman, NY) had 10 saves in the loss.

With the win, Dominican improves to 8-9-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the CACC, while CHC falls to 0-17-1 overall and 0-10-1 in the CACC.

 After the game, the women's soccer program honored seniors Jennifer Ditzig, Tricia Dugan, Pamela Mertens, Nicole Tatulli and Erin Ploetz.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the CACC Tournament when they travel to #4 Wilmington University.  Game time is 2pm.
