2007 Dominican College Women's Soccer Season Summary

The Dominican College Women's Soccer Team finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 8-9-2 and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record of 6-4-1.  The Lady Chargers finished in fifth place in the CACC, thus marking their fifteenth consecutive appearance in the CACC Tournament.

Having earned the fifth seed in the CACC Tournament, the team traveled to the fourth seeded Wildcats of Wilmington University.  After playing to a 2-2 double overtime tie, the game went to penalty kicks where WU won 4-2 to advance to the CACC Semi-Finals, thus ending the Lady Charger season.

All CACC Second Team selection, Marie LaMaida, led the team this season with 14 goals.  She ranked second in the CACC in goals per game, fourth in goals and points per game, sixth in points and shots per game and ninth in shots.

Junior Angie Correia finished second on the team with 10 goals and three assists.  She ranked ninth in the conference in goals and goals per game, while finishing tenth in points and points per game.

Junior Rosa Centurion played 14 games in goal, recording 70 saves for a .737 save percentage.  Tina Sturchio saw action in nine games with 33 saves and a .660 save percentage.  Freshman Veronica Johnson saw action five games this year, recording 24 saves and a .857 save percentage.

With the loss of five seniors to graduation, including starting defender Nicole Tatulli and midfielder Jen Ditzig, the Lady Chargers will rely on this year's freshman class to all be impact players in their sophomore year.  As LaMaida and Correia return for their final seasons, the future looks bright for the Lady Chargers in the 2008 year.
