LADY CHARGERS FALL AT MOLLOY COLLEGE KICKOFF CLASSIC

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (9/1/17) The Dominican College women's soccer team kicked off the 2017 season with a 4-0 loss to Merrimack College at the 2017 Molloy College Kickoff Classic played on John A. Darcy Field. With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-1 on the year, while the Warriors improve to 1-0.

Both teams played a scoreless first half, with the Warriors outshooting the Lady Chargers, 16-2.

In the second half, MC got on the scoreboard in the 46th minute and followed up with a second goal twenty minutes later.  In the 79th minute of play Cassie Giza netted her second game goal to increase the lead to 3-0 and a goal in the 82nd minute gave the Warriors the 4-0 lead and win.

Taylor Calero (New City, N.Y.) and Julianne Ramos (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each had a shot on goal, while freshman Danielle Gillespie (New City, N.Y.) had the other Lady Charger shot.

Junior keeper Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) made 13 saves in the loss.

DC will take on Bentley University this coming Sunday at the Molloy College Kickoff Classic.
