69 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO 2017 CACC WSOC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

New Haven, Conn. (11/25/17) -- Sixty-nine (69) student-athletes on Tuesday were named to the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The honorees came from the 13 CACC-member schools that sponsor the sport at the varsity level.

Dominican had three players named to the team as seniors Ina Koeder (Schwaebisch Hall, Germany) and Kim Koeder (Schwaebisch Hall, Germany) made their third appearance on the team with GPAs of 3.73 and 3.74 in the major of international management.  Sophomore Samantha Simler (Cheshire, Conn.) earns her first appearance on the team with a GPA of 3.55 in the major of athletic training

Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) led the way with 13 honorees, while Chestnut Hill College followed with nine. Georgian Court University, which claimed the CACC Championship earlier this month was next with eight honorees.

Thirty-seven (37) standouts were named to the All-Academic Team for at least the second time in their distinguished careers. A pair of student-athletes on the list boasted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages, including Sophie Woods (Goldey-Beacom College) and Giana DiTonto (Felician University). Woods, who won the CACC Top XVI Award in early November for having the highest GPA at the finals site, is a junior majoring in business, while DiTonto is a junior biology major. DiTonto helped Felician earn a spot in this year's CACC Championship Tournament.

Nine other student-athletes earned GPAs of 3.90-3.99 and included Kiersten Cobb-Wilkins (Chestnut Hill College, 3.94), Joanne Arvanitakis (Felician, 3.96), Anissia Fucci (Georgian Court, 3.93), Samantha Wiles (Georgian Court, 3.93), Taylor Walker (Holy Family University, 3.96), Kayla West (Jefferson, 3.93), Sara Pereyra 3.91), Katharina Mertz (Post University, 3.95) and Taylor Mocknis (Wilmington University, 3.97).

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
