LOPEZ TWO OUT SINGLE LIFTS CHARGERS BASEBALL OVER CONCORDIA CLIPPERS
Orangeburg, NY (3/28/08) Freshman Mario Lopez's (Anthony, NM) two out single to left field allowed the winning run to score and lift the Chargers to a 4-3 victory over visiting Concordia College this afternoon in a non-conference game at Veteran's Memorial Field.

Orangeburg, NY (3/28/08) Freshman Mario Lopez's (Anthony, NM) two out single to left field allowed the winning run to score and lift the Chargers to a 4-3 victory over visiting Concordia College this afternoon in a non-conference game at Veteran's Memorial Field.
The Clippers got on the board in the top of the third as Donnie Roth (Congers, NY) got a two out bunt single to first base. he moved to third on the single to right by Mike Sciacchitano (Wappinger, NY) and later scored as Peter Dempsey (Brewster, NY) reached on a error by the DC third basemen.
Concordia added to their lead in the fifth as Roth got another two out hit, this time a single to center, stole second and scored on the RBI single to center by Sciacchitano to give CC a 2-0 lead.
DC scored in the bottom of the sixth as Sean Brown (Massapequa, NY) singled to third and moved to second on the sacrifice bunt by Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM). Left fielder Tommy Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) doubled down the left field line to score Brown and cut the CC lead to 2-1.
In the bottom of eighth the Chargers took the lead as Lopez got a one out double to center field. Maloney followed with a walk and both runners advanced on a passed ball. Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) doubled over the center fielder's head to score both runs and give DC the lead, 3-2.
Concordia tied the game in the ninth as Anthony Fratto (Newburgh, NY) moved to second on a sac bunt, third on a ground out to the shortstop and scored on an error.
In the bottom of the nine Brown got a two out bunt single to first, stole second and scored on the RBI rope to left field by Lopez to lift DC to the 4-3 victory.
With the win, Dominican improves to 8-12 and while Concordia falls to 3-13.
Charger starter Brendan Bohan (Rutherford, NJ) went eight innings and allowing two runs on seven hits and four strikeouts in the no decision. Freshman Andrew Distelhurst (Bardonia, NY) picks up his first collegiate win in one inning of relief.
Clipper reliever Jesse Horsham (Port Jervis, NY) took the loss (0-2).
The Chargers are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Assumption College for a non-conference doubleheader. Game time is slated to begin at 1pm.
