Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/3/18) The Dominican College men's soccer team fell to Felician University in overtime on Wednesday by a score of 3-2.
The Golden-Falcons, 1-8-1 (1-5 CACC), opened the scoring by a taking a 1-0 lead in the first half. The score remained 1-0 until the Chargers, 4-7 (3-4 CACC), scored two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Golden-Falcons answered by tying the game to send it to overtime and sealed the win with a goal in the OT period.
Tyler Doll (St. Louis, Mo.) made 7 saves in the loss and kept the Chargers in the game. Joe Sartori made 3 saves in the win for the Golden-Falcons.
The first Felician goal came at 5:01 of the first half and was scored by Maxi Ojeda for the 1-0 lead. The game remained 1-0 until the 70:59 mark when Anthony Contero (Washingtonville, N.Y.) scored off the feed from Wilber Mazariego (Suffern, N.Y.) to tie the game.
The Chargers scored again just about five minutes later at the 75:56 mark when Jose Mendez (Jesup, Georgia) scored an unassisted goal for the 2-1 lead. Felician answered at the 83:04 mark when Gabe Viana tied the game at 2-2 to send the game to overtime.
In the OT period, the Golden-Falcons outshot Dominican 6-0 and at the 99:46 mark Carlo Gonzalez ended the game off of a deflected shot by Junior Borja who earned the assist on the game-winning goal.
The Chargers will host Chestnut Hill College on Saturday for a conference matchup at 12:00 PM where they will look to get back into the win column.
