Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/13/18) The Dominican College men's soccer team shutout the Rams of Shepherd University in a non-conference soccer game on Saturday by a score of 5-0. Dominican earned their fifth win to improve to 5-9 on the season.
The Chargers had five different goal scorers in the win. DC took a 1-0lead into halftime and blew the game open in the second half with four goals. As a team, the Chargers took 24 shots and recorded 12 on goal.
Tyler Doll (St. Louis, Mo.) earned the shutout victory and made three saves to help keep the Shepherd offense off the board. Mike Lemay made seven saves for the Rams.
Coming out of halftime, the Chargers extended their lead to 2-0 when Wilber Mazariego (Suffern, N.Y.) scored on a header off of the feed from Maximino Martinez (Ciudad De Panama, Panama) at the 52:37 mark. Jhosep Tovar (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) connected with Ewan Gray (Middlesbrough, England) for the 3-0 lead.
Daniel Mistretta (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored the DC's fourth goal of the game while Martinez earned his second assist of the game. Nicholas DiGuglielmo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) scored the fifth and final goal for DC and Lester Gudiel (Stamford, Conn.) earned the assist.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 17th when they travel to Caldwell University for a CACC matchup with the Cougars at 3:30 PM.
