20 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO  2018 CACC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (12/17/18) Twenty (20) student-athletes on Friday were named to the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The 20 honorees represent nine schools in the CACC that compete in the sport at the varsity level.

Dominican College had one athlete one the list, sophomore Nicholas Beutel (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.)  Beutel makes his first appearance on the list, sporting a GPA of 3.58.

Jefferson led the way with five honorees, including a top cumulative grade point average of 3.91 owned by Greg Dawson in his major of accounting. Irwin, who ran for the Rams at the CACC Championship back in late October, earned the CACC Top XVI Award for having the highest GPA at the finals site.

Chestnut Hill College was next on the list with three student-athletes being named to the academic squad. Jake DiCello boasted the top GPA on the team with a mark of 3.85.

Nine of the 20 honorees were named to the CACC All-Academic Team for at least the second time in their distinguished careers, including Jefferson's Sergei Cendo and Ethan Fadale, and Wilmington University's Miguel Suero, who were placed on the team for the third time. All three runners have earned All-CACC honors in men's cross country during their respective careers.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
