Blauvelt, NY (1/19/08) The Dominican College womens basketball team extended their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) winning streak to five games after charging past the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University, 84-65 this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

Blauvelt, NY (1/19/08) The Dominican College women's basketball team extended their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) winning streak to five games after charging past the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University, 84-65 this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
The Rams opened up the game with a 3-0 run which DC tied on a three point bucket by senior Kristen Tracey (Bronx, NY) and never trailed again in the game. Senior guard Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) netted 19 points in the first half, shooting 3-4 from beyond the three point arc en route to a 47-28 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Lady Chargers continued to dominate on the offensive end extending the lead to as many as 23 points with 13:38 left in the game. Dominican shot 52.9% (10-19) from three point land and 95.2% (20-21) from the charity stripe. Philadelphia shot 75% (21-28) from the free throw line and 38.5% (20-52) for the game. The Rams had the edge in rebounds 39-37.
The Rams had four players in double figures with Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA) leading the team with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ) netted 11 points, while Stephanie Agger (North Cape May, NJ) and Taylor Magnus (Plymouth Meeting, PA) each had 10 points in the loss.
Dominican was led by Rotio, who tied her career
high with 29 points, four steals and three assists. Sophomore
Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) came off the
bench on fire to finish with a career high 18 points, shooting 3-5
from beyond three, and scoring 10 straight points for DC in a 10-5
run in the first half. Althea Chambers (Yonkers,
NY) had the team's only double-double with 12 points and
13 rebounds.
With the win, Dominican improves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the CACC, while Philadelphia falls to 8-6 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.
DC is back in action on Monday when they host St. Michael's College in women's hoops action. Game time is 5:30pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
