LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL DEFEATS FELICIAN COLLEGE

Lodi, NJ (2/19/08) The visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College defeated the Golden Falcons of Felician College, 39-34 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball action.

Lodi, NJ (2/19/08)  The visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College defeated the Golden Falcons of Felician College, 39-34 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball action.

Dominican jumped out to a 15-5 lead with under twelve minutes to go in the first stanza on a layup by Nicole Genzanto (Point Pleasant Boro, NJ).  FC cut the lead to five, 17-22 at the buzzer on a three point shot by Shannon Gilmartin.

The Golden Falcons opened up the second half with a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 23-22 after a layup by Amanda Bartee.  Felician led by as many as seven points, 31-24, with 10:13 left in the game. The Lady Chargers rebounded with an 11-3 run to take a 35-34 lead with 0:49 seconds left in the game and ended the game with a 4-0 run for a 39-34 victory.

Both teams struggled on the floor as FC shot 23.1% (9-39) and DC shot just 19.0% (12-63) for the game.  The Golden Falcons had the advantage from the charity stripe shooting 73.7% (14-19) to Dominican's 57.1% (12-21).  The Lady Chargers out rebounded Felician, 49-42.

Bartee led the Golden Falcons with nine points and eight rebounds.  Dee Dee Smith led the team with nine rebounds.

Sophomore Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led Dominican with nine points.  Junior Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) netted seven points, while Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) had 13 caroms to lead all players.

With the win, Dominican improves to 18-7 overall and 12-3 in the CACC, while Felician falls to 3-22 overall and 1-14 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College in CACC women's action.  Game time is 1pm.
