Wilmington, DE (10/5/19) The Dominican College women's soccer team fell in double overtime to Goldey-Beacom College by a score of 5-4.
The Lady Chargers fall to 2-7-1 (0-3-1 CACC) on the season and the Lightning improve to 4-2-2 (3-0-1 CACC) after the win.
Dominican took 15 shots while the Lightning took 27 shots. Lauren Buchanan (Union, N.J.) and Jasmine Pesante (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) split time in net for DC. Pesante made five saves while Buchanan recorded two saves. Noel Talbot recorded three saves for the Lightning.
The Lightning scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead. Line Kristoffersen and Jenna Fannon each scored late in the first half to tie the game 2-2. Jenna Fannon scored her second of the game early in the second half to give Goldey-Beacom their first lead of the game.
Montera tied the game up on her second goal of the game off of a penalty kick. Kristoffersen answered back for the Lightning to help Goldey regain the lead. Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) scored three minutes later and the game went to overtime tied 4-4.
Both teams went scoreless in the first overtime. Jackie Ayers was awarded a penalty shot in the second overtime and scored to give the Lightning the win.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back when they return home to host the Cougars of Caldwell University on Wednesday, October 9th at 2:00 PM at OMM Field #5.
