New Haven, Conn. (12/1/19) Seventy-four (74) student-athletes on Monday were named to the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The total represents all 13 schools that sponsor the sport at the varsity level in the CACC.
Dominican had three student-athletes named to the team. Junior Jasmine Pesante (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) makes her second appearance on the team with a GPA of 3.88 and is studying Biology. Sophomores Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) and Bailey Cummings (Clarkstown, N.Y.) both make their first appearance on the team. Geary maintains a GPA of 3.88 and is studying Occupational Therapy and Cummings maintains a GPA of 3.75 and is studying Education.
Five student-athletes on the team posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages including Goldey-Beacom College's Rose Benjamin, G-B's Kiera Young, Holy Family University's Jacqueline Ziegler, Wilmington University's Viviana Caamano and WilmU's Krysta Memis.
Thirty-four (34) student-athletes qualified for the CACC Women's Soccer All-Academic Team for at least the second time in their respective careers, while 12 of those made it for the third time.
CACC Champion Jefferson led the way with 12 honorees making the squad, as the highest mark from the Rams was Alessandra DiStefano at 3.96.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
