DOMINICAN VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (10/30/08) The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match, 3-1 (14-25, 14-25, 25-16, 18-25) this evening to the visiting Eagles of Post University on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, NY (10/30/08) The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match, 3-1 (14-25, 14-25, 25-16, 18-25) this evening to the visiting Eagles of Post University on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Post dominated in the first two sets winning both 25-14. In the third set Dominican never trailed and led at one point 18-12 as they cruised to the 25 16 victory. In the fourth set, the Eagles answered back with a 25-18 win and 3-1 match victory.
Senior outside hitter Kerry Smith (Lynbrook, NY) led the team with 16 kills, 10 digs and five service aces. Freshman Elizabeth Knight (Queens Village, NY) added 11 kils and two blocks in the win, while setter Taylor Doyle (Mystic, CT) led the way with 30 assists.
Dominican was led by seniors Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) and Ashley Simpson (Spring Valley, NY) who had eight kills a piece. Fellow senior Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River, NY) contributed seven kills and seven digs, while libero Catherine Giordano (Stony Point, NY) led the team with 13 digs. Senior setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY) led the team with 22 assists.
With the win Post improves to 7-21 overall and 6-7 in the CACC, while Dominican drops to 0-24 overall and 0-14 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Chestnut Hill College in CACC women's volleyball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Game time is set for 12pm on Senior Day.
