DOMINICAN COACH GIANNETTI ATTENDS DIVISION II IDENTITY WORKSHOP

Orangeburg, N.Y. (7/4/19)   Dominican College head baseball coach and assistant athletic director Rick Giannetti was one of three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) coaches to attend the 2019 NCAA Division II Identity Workshop, held June 26-28 at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NCAA Division II Identity Workshop is a professional development retreat for coaches featuring leadership training, best practices for community engagement opportunities, and training in social media, fundraising and risk management. This marked the fourth year of the workshop.

"It was an honor to represent Dominican College and the CACC at this prestigious NCAA workshop," Giannetti said. "I had a great experience bonding with coaches from across the country."

Giannetti was joined at the event by fellow CACC coaches Steve Fagan, head women's basketball coach at Felician University, and Shannon Padula, head softball coach at the University of the Sciences. Their names were submitted by the CACC office to the NCAA for determining participants in the workshop.

During the workshop, coaches were shown various resources that are available to DII coaches, were a part of discussions for academic and membership affairs and gave their input on NCAA policies and procedures.

In addition to the training, the workshop included panels with industry professionals featuring Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II; Maritza Jones, managing director of Division II; Ryan Jones, associate director of Division II; Roberta Page, director, championships and alliances; and Justin Patton, a leadership coach. Various Division II athletics directors and coaches also presented.

Giannetti is the first coach from Dominican to attend the workshop. He is entering his 31st season with the Chargers.
