Orangeburg, NY (5/1/09) The top team in the NCAA East Region, Dominican College, charged past the visiting University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, 15-3 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) baseball action.

Dominican got on the board in the first inning as freshman Alexi Colon (Millville, NJ) led off the inning with a walk and later came in to score on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly ball to left field by right fielder Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) brought in Yordis Veras (Jamaica, NY), who had reached on a USP error.
DC added to the lead with a three run second inning as Colon got a one out walk and later scored on a wild pitch, designated hitter Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) had an RBI sacrifice fly ball to right field and third basemen Willie Mann (Patterson, NY) had an RBI double to right field to extend the Charger lead to 5-0.
The Chargers struck again in the third inning with four runs as Colon drew his third walk of the game and would later steal home. Munoz delivered a huge two-out three run home run to left field to put DC up 9-0.
A run in the fifth on a Munoz double to left field and a five run seventh inning gave Dominican a 15-0 lead. In the seventh, pinch hitter Nick Simmons (Miami, FL) had an RBI single to center and a Devil fielding error allowed Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) also to score. Pinch hitter Danny Porras (Miami, FL) later drew a bases loaded walk and catcher Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) followed by being hit by a pitch to plate a run. An RBI single through the right side by outfielder Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) scored Dominican's final run of the game.
USP got on the board in the eighth on a double to left and platted two runs with a two-run blast to left field for the final 15-3 Dominican victory.
Charger starter Todd Craig (Shenandoah, PA) got the win in seven innings of work, giving up seven hits and striking out 10 batters to improve to 6-2 on the year. Freshman Eliezer Cordero (Bridgeport, CT) pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs on three hits and two strikeouts.
With the victory Dominican improves to 33-10 overall and 20-5 in the CACC.
