KAHL AND MOORE NAMED CACC PITCHER AND ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Orangeburg, NY (5/5/09) Dominican College baseball players, Tom Kahl and Justin Moore, have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Year as was announced by the conference office today. Fellow teammates Alexi Colon, Michael Munoz and Brian Craig received All-CACC First Team honors, while Robert Iglesias and Willie Mann were named to the All-CACC Second Team. Head Coach Rick Giannetti was named the CACC Coach of the Year.

Orangeburg, NY (5/5/09) Dominican College baseball players, Tom Kahl and Justin Moore, have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Year as was announced by the conference office today. Fellow teammates Alexi Colon, Michael Munoz and Brian Craig received All-CACC First Team honors, while Robert Iglesias and Willie Mann were named to the All-CACC Second Team. Head Coach Rick Giannetti was named the CACC Coach of the Year.
Kahl, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Bay
Shore, NY, has 6-0 record this season with an ERA of 2.33. In
65 2/3 innings pitched, he has 78 strikeouts, allowed 19 runs (17
earned), 62 hits and 25 walks with an opponent batting average of
.258. He leads the team and the CACC in strikeouts,
strikeouts looking and runners picked off and is ranked third in
the CACC in ERA and tied for first in wins.
Moore, a rookie right-handed hurler from Wantagh,
NY, leads the CACC and is second in the nations with 14
saves. He has an ERA of 1.86 with an 1-0 record in 19 1/3
innings pitched. He has allowed six runs (four earned), 20
hits and has 12 strikeouts on the season with an opponent batting
average of .286. He ranks third in the CACC in games in
relief.
Colon, a freshman outfielder from Millville, NJ,
is sporting a .281 batting average this season. He is second
on the team with 41 hits and leads the team in home runs (8),
triples (3), RBIs (38) and doubles (10). He has tallied 81
total bases and 36 runs scored. He ranks fourth in the CACC
in slugging percentage (.555) and RBIs and leads the conference in
home runs. He is currently the CACC Rookie of the Week.
Munoz, a sophomore designated hitter from teh
Bronx, NY, is currently the CACC Player of the Week. He has a
.350 batting average this season and is tied for second on the team
with 41 hits. He is tied for second on the team in doubles
(9), triples (2) and home runs (3) and has a .538 slugging
percentage. He ranks in the top ten in the CACC in batting.
Craig, the lone senior is a right-handed pitcher
from Shenandoah, PA, has a 6-2 record with an ERA of 3.79. In
59 1/3 innings of work he has tallied 54 strikeouts (2nd on team)
and has allowed 53 hits and 33 runs (25 earned) with an opponent
batting average of .226. He ranks fourth in the CACC in
opponents batting average and tied for second in wins.
Iglesias, a sophomore catcher from Mays Landing,
NJ, has started 29 games behind the plate this season and has a
.327 batting average. He's tallied 24 hits, eight doubles, 21
runs scored and 21 RBIs this season. He is third on the team
in both batting and slugging percentage (.404). He has has a
fielding percentage of .984.
Mann, who hails from Patterson, NY, is a junior
thirdbasemen who leads the team and is ranked sixth in the CACC
with a .359 batting average. He leads the team with 46 hits
and has 22 RBis and seven doubles this season. He has a .939
fielding percentage in 39 games and an on-base percentage of .439.
Giannetti, who is in his 20th season at the helm, has guided the team to a 35-10 overall record and a 22-5 CACC record. He has led Dominican to 12 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships, 9 regional tournament appearances, 1 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and 2 NAIA World Series Appearances. His teams have qualified for post season play every year except one. This is his 9th CACC Coach of the Year honor.
The Chargers have been the #1 team in the NCAA East Region all season and is also the top team in the NCBWA poll. Dominican is also the #1 seed going into the upcoming CACC Tournament.
