#1 DOMINICAN COLLEGE BASEBALL FALL TO #4 NYACK COLLEGE AT CACC TOURNAMENT

New Castle, DE (5/8/09) The top seeded Dominican College Chargers baseball team fell to the fourth-seeded Nyack College Warriors, 5-3 in the continuation of yesterday's suspended game at the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament being held at Wilmington University.

New Castle, DE (5/8/09)  The top seeded Dominican College Chargers baseball team fell to the fourth-seeded Nyack College Warriors, 5-3 in the continuation of yesterday's suspended game at the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament being held at Wilmington University.

DC took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by designated hitter Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) to score Yordis Veras (Jamaica, NY) who had walked and stole second and third base.

The Warriors answered back with a two run second inning on an RBI single and groundout to take a 2-1 lead.

Dominican tied the game in the third on the RBI single to centerfield by junior Tommy Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) to score Veras who had a two out triple to right center.  The Chargers added a run in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead on the RBI single to left field by shortstop Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) to score right fielder Dan Robinson (Massapequak, NY), who had led off the inning with a single through the left side.

Nyack came back with two runs in the fifth after taking advantage of three DC errors to take a 4-3 lead.  NC added an insurance run in the seventh on a single through the right side for the final 5-3 score.

Tom Kahl (Bay Shore, NY) took the loss in five innings of work, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and four strikeouts to fall to 6-1 on the season.  Shaun Murphy (Melville, NY) came in for the final four innings.

With the loss Dominican falls to 35-11 overall and will face the lose of the #2 Bloomfield College versus #3 Wilmington University game in the losers bracket at 4pm today.
